Community Supported Agriculture

As a Slow Food DC 2012 Snail of Approval Award winner, we are dedicated to providing our community with fresh, local foods and honoring the farms that allow us to do this.  We have recently partnered with Great Country Farms in Bluemont, VA as a new drop-site for their CSA program and have received a great response from our guests!

If you are interested in eating healthy, supporting local businesses, and receiving farm-fresh produce, check out Great Country Farms in Bluemont, VA for information on their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.  CSA Members not only receive a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables each week, they also receive free admission to the farm April-November.  Great Country Farms is truly a family destination for fun with a barnyard full of animals to visit, a giant jumping pillow, mazes, tractors to climb on, swings, 60′ slides, pedal carts, and catch & release fishing in their stocked pond.

In addition to the member benefits you receive through GCF, Open Kitchen is offering a 5% food discount at our Bistro throughout the CSA season.  You will also receive weekly recipes in your CSA box.  Our Market Chef and Lead Culinary Instructor, Katie Reineberg, will be writing weekly recipes centered on the ingredients included in each box from Great Country Farms.  If you have any questions about how to use the items in your box or need a few tips in the kitchen, feel free to contact Chef Katie at the bistro 703.942.8148.
